Antique Symphonion Sublime Harmony Music Box with 20 11.875 inch discs. The movement was professionally restored in 2007.

This is an antique circa 1900 wood music box with an inlaid metal shield. It features a Swiss changing 3 song 42 note musical movement. There were some loose joints and splits that needed to be repaired and evidence of a previous repair to the veneer on one side (see photos). I did a light restoration to the wood case, replaced a corner piece on the bottom, and installed some vintage tacks (legs). I made a plexi-glass cover for the movement and a side piece to hold it in. The tune label is coming unglued on one side and reveals a previous label underneath. I will add a photo of this later. I did serviced the musical movement and installed all new dampers. It is in excellent playing condition. There is a sliding on/off button on the front and a button on the side that allows a tune to repeat or for it to change tunes. Measurements in inches. This is a vintage 1940/50s musical ballerina dancer. The ballerina is mounted on a spun metal base with a plastic dome. This is not the typical small ballerina found in most music boxes. It is almost 3 inches tall and is in superb condition. The plastic dome is marked "SWISS" on the rim. It has some scuff marks, scratch marks and a small crack at the bottom (see photo). The base has some discoloration spots on the side. It has the old tune label (torn) on the bottom and has a U.S. Patent number. The spindle sleeve is a bit loose and may requires some straightening from time to time for the ballerina to turn and spin. Otherwise, it is in fantastic condition for its age. There is a lever at the side near the bottom to start or stop the music. If your speakers are on you should be able to hear it playing as you watch the video. For the best sound results, listen to the recording on good quality desktop speakers. Laptop speakers do not capture the true sound of the mp3 file. Measurements in inches. This is an antique 1920/30s Thorens burl wood veneer with inlaid shield music box. There is a protective glass cover over the musical movement. The movement and box are in their original condition. The movement has 36 notes. These antique note combs were made with 38 tines and usually the last two are unused. Sometimes they left them on and other they cut them off, like this one. You will find the same is true of the 50 note movement from this time period that had 52 tines. The Thorens impressed "anchor" mark is on the comb. There are some signs of previous use in the form of light scuff marks on top and front corners and some raising in the finish see photos. Otherwise it is in excellent condition and displays great.
