This is one of my vintage custom musical boxes.  The footed walnut box was completely stripped and a tung oil finish applied.  The top medallion has been painted.  The legs are in their original condition (including some discolored and worn spots). There is evidence of some previous blemishes on the wood (see photos).  The box was made sometime between 1920- 1940.  I installed an antique 1885 to 1900 two song 41  note Swiss musical movement with clock style winding key (probably not the original key).  The manufacturer's mark is "JCD" found on the top of the bed plate underneath the note comb. The serial number "98150" is on the top of the bedplate near the air brake assembly.  There are several other hand scripted numbers and letters on the bottom of the bed plate.   I polished all the brass parts and replaced 7 missing dampers (before picture shown).  I made a button sliding on/off mechanism which is mounted on the right side of the box and has a green glass adornment.  There is no glass or cover for the musical movement (there is not enough space for one).
If your speakers are on you should be able to hear it playing. Please be advised that the music will sound better on good quality desktop speakers - Laptop computer speakers are generally poor reproducers of the mp3 file.  Measurements in inches. Height = 2.375, Length = 7.375, Width = 4.25.  Dimensions given at maximum points. The item(s) approximate weight is 1 pound 9 ounces.
